Cloverfield is a 2008 monster/horror film produced by J. J. Abrams, directed by Matt Reeves, and written by Drew Goddard. Prior to the film's release, Paramount Pictures carried out a viral marketing campaign to promote the film. The campaign included viral tie-ins similar to the Lost Experience.[6] The film follows five young New Yorkers who throw their friend a going-away party on the same night that a gigantic monster attacks the city.

Plot summary
The movie opens with a "Property of the U.S. Government" watermarked screen declaring that the viewers are watching a "Digital SD Memory Card" of video pertaining to U.S. Case Designate "Cloverfield", found in an area "formerly known as Central Park". The found footage that follows makes up the rest of the movie, all shot from the point of view of a hand-held camera.

The movie follows the journey of four friends after the shock attack from an unidentified entity on the city of Manhattan as they initially attempt to escape the city and subsequently try to rescue a friend caught in the attack in a different part of the city.

The plot of the four friends reveals details about the eponymous monster but has no true insights into actual events, as many aspects and plot details are left unclear; leading to much speculation about events and the creature itself

Είδα σήμερα μία ταινία, "τις κατακόμβες",
Η άλλη όψη του Παρισιού, από πόλη του φωτός, των ζωγράφων, του ρομαντισμού, και του έρωτα, στην ταινία μετατρέπεται σε πόλη του σκοταδιού, της αρωστημένης φάρσας, του φόβου, και του αίματος.
Μία περιπλάνηση στο υπόγειο Παρίσι, στις κατακόμβες, η υπόθεση στο εισαγωγικό της ταινίας μας λένε ότι προέρχεται από αληθινά γεγονότα.
Σκοτεινά πλάνα και μουσική που σε υποβάλει σε συνθήκες στρες( εμένα τουλάχιστον μου έφερε δυσφορία και μου δημιουργούσε άγχος)
Λίγα λόγια για την υπόθεση:

Η ιστορία διαδραματίζεται στο Παρίσι όπου μια κοπέλα φθάνει μετά από πρόσκληση της αδελφής της. Εκεί βρίσκεται σε ένα ρέιβ πάρτι κατά τη διάρκεια του οποίου αυτή και η παρέα της βρίσκονται στις κατακόμβες του Παρισιού, έναν λαβύρινθο 200 μιλίων, στις οποίες φιλοξενούνται άταφα 7.000.000 πτώματα. Σε κάποια φάση μένει μόνη της και είναι πεπεισμένη ότι κάποιος ή κάτι την ακολουθεί.

Πρόκειται για το The Mutilator του 1985.

Η ταινία ξεκινάει καλά παρουσιαζοντας ένα τραγικό περιστατικό. Ενας πιτσιρικάς παίζοντας με την καραμπίνα του πατέρα του, σκοτώνει κατά λάθος τη μητέρα του με αποτέλεσμα ο πατέρας του να πάθει ισχυρό σοκ. Ηταν και η μέρα των γεννεθλίων του πατέρα, οπότε το σοκ ήταν ακόμη μεγαλύτερο αφού τέτοιο δώρο δεν θα το περίμενε ποτέ ο φουκαράς.

Μετά από πολλά χρόνια και αφότου ο τραγικός μητροκτόνος πιτσιρικάς γινεται έφηβος αποφασίζει να πάει διακοπές με τη νεανική παρέα του στο παραθαλάσσιο εξοχικό σπίτι του πατέρα του, ο οποίος εντωμεταξεί έχει εξελιχθεί σε ικανό κυνηγο. Οι εφηβοι φαίνονται να το διασκεδάζουν και επιδίδονται σε ψυχαγωγικά παιχνιδάκια, βόλτες και απολαύσεις που παρέχει το εξοχικό, όπως...μπάνιο σε πισίνα! Η χαρά τους όμως δεν θα κρατήσει για πολύ!! Διότι όπως φυσικά καταλάβατε...ένας αιμοβόρος φονιάς με αρέσκεια στο "rotation" των φονικών όπλων αρχίζει να καθαρίζει έναν έναν τους νεανίες και τις κοπέλες με απολαυστικούς ως επι το πλείστον φόνους.

Το σενάριο είναι τυπικό ταινίας τρόμου με teen-agers που επισκέπτονται ένα μέρος στο ύπαιθρο και δολοφονούνται από έναν αιμοσταγή παρανοϊκό. Ωστόσο το The Mutilator καταφέρνει να μείνει όρθιο λόγω 1) της τραγικής αρχής του όπου το φυσίγγιο διπερνά το κορμί της μητέρας απολαυστικά, 2) ορισμένων εμπνευσμένων και ιδιαίτερα αιματηρών φόνων, όπως π.χ. το κάρφωμα ενός μεγάλου γάτζου στο...γεννητικό όργανο μιας άτυχης κοπέλας ο οποίος βγαίνει στη συνεχεια από τα έντερα 3)ελάχιστων σκοτεινων-ατμοσφαιρικών σκηνών.

Κατά τ'άλλα η προχειρότητα και οι σεναριακές τρύπες αφθονούν...
Για παράδειγμα η ταινία είναι αρκετά προβλέψιμη με πρώτο βασικό προβλέψιμο στοιχείο την ταυτότητα του φονιά την οποιά αποκαλύπτει από την αρχή σχεδόν και που άλλωστε δεν θα ήταν δύσκολο να προβλέψετε
Ερασιτεχνισμός υπάρχει επίσης σε δύο φόνους. Ο ένας αφορά στον αποκεφαλισμό ένός σερίφη ο οποίος όσο εντυπωσιακός και αν είναι αρχικά...στη συνεχεια καταντάει γελοίος αφού το σώμα μένει αρκετή όρα όρθιο και βολοδέρνει μεταξύ φθοράς και αφθαρσίας! Ο δεύτερος μεγάλος ερασιτεχνισμός υπάρχει στη σκηνή όπου ένα άτυχος νέος πριονίζεται από τον φονιά και αντί να απολαμβάνουμε έναν σοβαρό εντυπωσιακό φόνο, γελάμε με τους ψευτικος κωμικοτραγικούς σπαραγμούς του παντελώς ατάλαντου ηθοποιού που υποδύεται το θύμα. Τρέμει σαν σαρδέλα και μάλλον περισσότερο γελάει παρά υποφέρει. Αυτά παθαίνει κανείς όταν βάζει ατάλαντους ηθοποιούς να υποδύονται τέτοιους ρόλους. Ηθελα να'ξερα...ο σκηνοθέτης δεν το είδε το χάλι του να ξαναγυρίσουν τη σκηνή? Τέλος πάντων...

Βασικά περισσότερο χτυπάνε άσχημα τα σεναριακά κενά παρά οι προχειρότητες των εφέ και των ηθοποιών. Και ενώ το εντυπωσιακό, επιβλητικό εξώφυλλο σε "φτιάχνει" ότι θα παρακολουθήσεις μια δυναμική ταινία τρόμου με μπόλικο αίμα και σασπένς, τελικά σε αφήνει με ένα μικρό παράπονο...όχι λόγω έλλειψης αιματηρών σκηνών αλλά κυρίως όπως είπα λόγο πλοκής. Anyway...για τους λάτρεις των σπλάτερ/slasher προτείνεται αυτή η αλλόκοτη ταινία τρόμου που προσπαθεί απεγνωσμένα να περάσει τη βάση της βαθμολογίας. Το αν τα καταφέρνει αφήνω εσάς να το κρίνετε (αν ποτέ το δείτε)...

Αξίζει πιστεύω έστω για μια φορά...

The Invasion

The Invasion, previously known as Invasion and The Visiting, is a 2007 science fiction film based on a screenplay by Dave Kajganich, a remake of the 1956 film, Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Initially directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel with Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig as leads, Warner Bros. Pictures later hired James McTeigue to shoot scenes rewritten by the Wachowski brothers. The Invasion was released on August 17, 2007 in the United States, and was both a box office and critical failure, earning $39,801,733 worldwide against a $65 million budget and garnering a 19% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

μια μετρια ταινια, αλλα αναλογως τον καθε θεατη που εχει αποψη, μπορει να αρεσει!

Τέτοιο είναι το Fear Dot Com του 2002.

Προκειται ουσιαστικά για ένα θρίλερ παρόμοιο του "Ψιθυροι των πνευματων" και "Gothica" αφού αφορά σε ένα "πνεύμα" που ζητάει εξιλέωση.
Είμαι λίγο spoiler τώρα, αλλά δεν πειράζει

Η υποθεση έχει ώς εξής: Υπάρχει ένα site το fear.com το οποίο όσοι επισκέφθηκαν μετά από 2 μέρες βρέθηκαν νεκροί κάτω από περίεργες συνθήκες!

Ενας ντετέκτιβ λοιπόν, αναλαμβάνει να λύσει το μυστήριο, με τη βοήθεια μιας γιατρού αν θυμάμαι καλά. Η πλοκή εξελίσσεται αρκετά καλά, με απρόβλεπτα γεγονόταν να λαμβάνουν χώρα, και οι ζωές των πρωταγωνιστών τίθενται σε κίνδυνο απ'τη στιγμή που αποφάσισαν -ναι καλά καταλάβατε- να επισκεφθούν την θανατηφόρα ιστοσελίδα...
Και ο χρόνος κυλάει αντίστροφα και για τους δύο!!

Οι αποκαλύψεις στο τέλος είναι συγκλονιστικές. Η ατμόσφαιρα είναι ιδιαίτερα σκοτεινή και τρομακτική σε σημεία βελτιώνοντας κατά πολύ αυτό το αξιολογότατο θρίλερ.

Ουσιαστικά το Fear Dot Com συνδυάζει επιτυχώς στοιχεία μεταφυσικά και αστυνομικά. Εγώ πάντως εντυπωσιάστηκα από την ταινία, παρ'όλο που αρχικά ήμουν προκατειλημμένος αφού πολλά θρίλερ από το 2000 και μετά μου έχουν φανεί μέτρια.

Death Race 2000 is a cult action film directed by Paul Bartel in 1975. The movie takes place in a dystopian American society in 2000. David Carradine, Simone Griffeth and Sylvester Stallone played the star roles; Mary Woronov, Roberta Collins, The Real Don Steele, Joyce Jameson, Carle Bensen, Sandy McCallum and Harriet Medin co-star. The screenplay was based on the short story "The Racer" by Ib Melchior

Plot synopsis

The film is set in the year 2000, when the United States has been destroyed by a financial crisis and a military coup, and the United Provinces, (a fascist police state), rules America, keeping the people satisfied by feeding a stream of gory gladiatorial entertainment. The political parties have collapsed into a single Bipartisan Party, which also fulfils the religious functions of a unified church and state.

Frankenstein (Carradine) is the most celebrated racer in a bloody spectacle instituted by the President of the United Provinces, the Transcontinental Road Race. He is reputed to be part machine, rebuilt after many crashes, and he is the government's champion. The race itself, in three segments from east coast to west, is scored both by traditional methods of timed checkpoints, and also by the number, age and gender of people killed by the drivers. The cars are equipped to kill, bearing anti-personnel weaponry ranging from blades to rockets, and the drivers and their cars are themed in a manner reminiscent of the Hanna-Barbera animated series Wacky Races.

In form, the film is thus part horror film, part satire. The dysfunctional fascist society is depicted, often accompanied by sick humor, through the playing out of the suicidal and homicidal impulses of the drivers and their victims. For example, in one memorable early scene, the staff of a geriatric nursing home array their patients in the path of the race. Frankenstein veers off the road and kills the staff instead.

There are three main subplots: the deadly competition between the rival drivers, particularly Frankenstein and "Machine Gun" Joe Viterbo (Stallone), who hates playing second fiddle; the revolutionary machinations of Thomasina Paine (Harriet Medin), a lineal descendant of Thomas Paine and head of the Resistance, and her daughter Annie (Simone Griffeth), who infiltrates herself into the race as Frankenstein's co-driver intending to lure him into a planned ambush where he is to be replaced by a double; and finally, the enigmatic identity of Frankenstein himself.

The plot twist is that Frankenstein is not a willing government stooge. There is no single Frankenstein, and he is simply one of many trained to race in the role. "When one is used up, they bring in another", he tells Annie. He isn't opposed to Annie and the resistance as such, but instead has his own plan to end the tyranny: win the race and shake hands with the President, detonating a grenade planted in his right hand.

Frankenstein successfully outmaneuvers both the rival drivers and the Resistance, and is declared the winner and sole survivor. In a swift-moving climax, Frankenstein and Annie combine to dodge Mrs Paine's attempt to assassinate Frankenstein, and Frankenstein succeeds in killing the President. In an epilogue, Annie and Frankenstein are wedded, and Frankenstein, now President, abolishes the race and the perverse laws of the Provinces.

Death Race

Death Race is an upcoming American film written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. The film is a remake of the 1975 film Death Race 2000 and stars Jason Statham in the lead role. The remake had been in development since 2002, though production was delayed by disapproval of early screenplays then placed in turnaround following a dispute between Paramount Pictures and the producer duo Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner. Death Race was acquired by Universal Pictures, and Anderson re-joined the project to write and direct. Filming began in Montreal in August 2007, and Death Race is slated for a release on September 26, 2008

Doomsday is a 2008 British science fiction film written and directed by Neil Marshall. The film takes place in a quasi-post-apocalyptic United Kingdom, that quarantined an infected Scotland which has since been presumed dead. Rhona Mitra stars as the heroine who leads a team to seek a cure in inhospitable Scotland when the virus begins to belatedly emerge in their preserved homeland of England. Marshall cited Doomsday as an homage to numerous films from his childhood, including Mad Max and Escape from New York. Filming took place in Scotland and South Africa in the course of 2007. Doomsday was released on 14 March 2008 in the United States and Canada. It is scheduled to be released in the United Kingdom on 5 May 2008.

Plot
In 2008, a lethal plague ("Reaper") has infected Scotland. As the country is walled off by the government to quarantine the infected, a young girl, Eden, is amongst the last to be airlifted out. In 2033, a fully-grown Eden (Rhona Mitra) leads a police task force, the DSS. Reaper has spread to England, and the Prime Minister (Alexander Siddig) orders an excursion into Scotland to locate a Dr Kane (Malcolm MacDowell), who the PM hopes will be able to find a cure.

Eden is teamed with a small military group and crosses the border. The group heads to the hospital at which Kane was working before the quarantine was placed, but are ambushed by violent cannibalistic bandits. Eden is captured and taken to their leader, Sol (Craig Conway). Eden tells him the purpose of her mission, and Sol reveals that Dr Kane had told them all that nothing remained of the world outside Scotland. The group holds a vaudeville-style show, which culminates in the cooking and eating of one of the military personnel who accompanied Eden into Scotland. Eden manages to escape with the help of another prisoner, Cally (MyAnna Buring), killing Sol's girlfriend in the process. Cally reveals that she is Kane's daughter and Sol is in fact her brother and knows where to find Kane. Cally and Eden meet up with the two surviving members of Eden's team and a group of rebels associated with Cally.

After being chased by Sol's group, the rebels eventually make their way through the mountains to be confronted by horsemen, who are commanded by Dr Kane. Kane tells Eden that he doesn’t care about the outside world and that there is no cure for the virus. The people that are alive have survived simply because they’re immune. Dr Kane forces Eden to fight in gladiatorial combat his best warrior. Eden kills him and escapes, finding a cell phone in a cache of supplies in an old fallout shelter. Eden, Cally and one surviving member of her troop escape by car also found in the shelter.

In England, when one of the infected is shot by Eden's former commander, Nelson (Bob Hoskins), while in close proximity to the Prime Minister, the PM is sprayed with blood. Rather than die of the plague, he commits suicide. His aide, Canaris (David O'Hara), reveals his plans to take over the country. Eden calls Nelson's cell phone, telling him she has what they're looking for. Canaris takes the cell phone and orders the call traced.

Eden is followed by Sol and his bandits and a violent car chase ensues. Sol jumps into Eden's car, and is killed by decapitation when the car drives through one of the chasing vehicles. Eden meets with Canaris, telling him that because those in Scotland are immune, Cally's blood could help to find a vaccine. Canaris admits wanting to let the plague continue spreading before planning to bring the cure to the masses. Eden stays in Scotland and is visited by Nelson at her mother's house. She doesn't find her mother but finds a picture of the two. Nelson found her through the envelope she gave him and she lets him keep as she now has a picture to remember her mother by. She gives him a tape recording of the conversation with Canaris in order for Nelson to use it to incriminate him.

Eden travels to Sol’s gang's hideout carrying Sol’s head. After she throws it down in front of the gang, they cheer, and accept her as their leader.
