Ποιες λέξεις,ποιες τάχα εικόνες μπορούν να περιγράψουν την ομορφιά αυτού του νησιού? Ένα βουνό καταμεσής στο πέλαγο. Ένα φυλαχτό στην άκρη του Αιγαίου. Μακριά για τους πολλούς μα πάντα κοντά για τους εκλεκτούς. Για εκείνους που αντίκρυσαν πρώτη φορά τον εαυτό τους σαν έσκυψαν στη Βάθρα. Για εκείνους που άκουσαν το κάλεσμα όταν βρέθηκαν στην κορυφή του Σάος. Για εκείνους που ήπιαν νερό από το Βάτο και θυμήθηκαν το όνομα τους,που περπάτησαν πλάι στον Φονιά,που στάθηκαν στην σκιά του Πύργου και που περάσαν την πύλη του Ιερού των Μεγάλων Θεών. Εκείνοι που ήρθαν μία φόρα και τυλίχτηκαν με την αύρα της Σαμοθράκης είναι εκείνοι που μπορούν να νιώσουν όσα δεν περιγράφονται με λέξεις.
Με φωτογραφίες πολλές θα στολιστεί αυτή η σελίδα μα το μαγικό ραβδί που ξυπνάει αισθήματα παραμένει κρυμμένο εδώ στην αγκαλιά του αιγαίου, στη Σαμοθράκη."

For a thousand years, the Sanctuary of the Great Gods on Samothrace was one of the most famous mystery centers of the ancient world, rivaling Delphi in stature and fame. From throughout the Eastern Mediterranean, figures as varied as Philip II, father of Alexander, Herodotus, the Egyptian Ptolemies, and the Emperor Hadrian came to receive initiation into the cosmic secrets of the Samothracian Kabiri, and returned to their homes wiser and nobler.
What was the nature of the spiritual experience in the ancient mysteries, and how was it transformed into philosophy and sacred number by the work of Pythagoras, Plato and other great figures? How did this profoundly esoteric and logical worldview influence sacred architecture and art? And how are the mysteries revealed in phenomena like The Golden Section, the ubiquitous ratio that seems to underlie life as a pattern we instinctively recognize as beautiful?
International scholars, writers and artists will gather on Samothrace for the seventh in the Open Center’s series of conferences on the Western Esoteric Tradition. This time we will focus our attention on the roots of the tradition, the works of wisdom whose translation by Marsilio Ficino in Florence sparked the esoteric philosophy of the Renaissance.
The conference will be followed by two optional journeys. One will go to Ephesus, Didyme and other ancient sites on the Ionian coast of Anatolia. This will also include three days in Istanbul where we will continue themes from last year's quest with some of Turkey's most brilliant and knowledgeable Sufi teachers. The other journey will take us to Delphi, Eleusis, and other evocative mystery centers of mainland Greece."
